med school wisdom

I'm nearly 1/2 way through with med school, and just thought I'd take a moment to post a few of my favorite things that I've heard in lecture so far...

"Sometimes language is like a scalpel-- and you should use it with the same precision." -Dr. Larry Nichols, pathologist

"Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment."
-Dr. David Steed, vascular surgeon

"Gastric bypass surgery at a cost of $28,000 is covered by insurance. A typical nutrition visit at $50 an hour isn't. We must shift the paradigm from care that is fragmented and reactionary to care that is prevention focused, coordinated and planned." -Dr. Linda Siminerio, director of the University of Pittsburgh Diabetes Institute

More soon... including an exciting 'guest blog' from Beth!

have a great weekend--
nicole
